The office of Dr Barry Conway is located on the third floor of 1990 Fort Street, the corner of Fort and Foul Bay. The entrance door is on Foul Bay. Dr Conway provides a full service family practice but no obstetrics. We do however have a number of very competent maternity doctors to whom we refer.
If you are 65 or older you should be sure that you have had a pneumonia vaccine at least once in past.
If you have not had a tetanus vaccine in the past 10 years, please bring it to the staff's attention and we will arrange to get you a booster.
If you are over 50 it is recommended that you schedule an annual check up once a year with Dr Conway. Pap smears should be scheduled once yearly until age 70 and do not forget to book your mammogram yearly.
Most prescriptions are given with a 3-month supply and three refills. People taking some medications should be seen by Dr Conway before refills are provided. People taking thyroid should have a TSH yearly since as we get older the amount needed tends to decrease. Blood pressure medications are given for a 6-month supply and then your blood pressure and urine should be checked prior to re-prescribing.
As much as we try to be on time, emergencies happen. People sometimes have a far more complicated problem than they suspect or that can be dealt with in a short appointment. There is always the pesky call from the hospital that needs to be dealt with immediately. Please be aware that Dr Conway does his best to stay on time. You can help this by not saving up many problems to ask about all at once. If you bring a list typically things get glossed over due to lack of time. In order to adequately deal with multiple issues it's best to make multiple appointments with Dr Conway.
This website is here to help you, please check out the health library.
The regular hours of operation are:
On Wednesday, phones are answered from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon. We are closed all statutory holidays but the doctor on call may be reached by calling the office number and following the verbal directions.
Dr Conway visits nursing home patients and does some hospital work on Wednesday. In an emergency we can usually arrange an appointment between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. Kindly give 24 hours cancellation notice if you cannot make it to an appointment so that someone else can use your appointment time. If you simply do not come without canceling you will be billed.
Some of our patients have inhalant allergies so kindly help us make this a scent free office. Out of courtesy kindly remember to turn off your cell phone and please do not bring food or drink into the office.
If your appointment is a Worker's Compensation case please let the receptionist know when you arrive so that she can collect the necessary information for your claim before you are seen.
Please call us to schedule an appointment.
